Many of the men and women aboard USS NEW YORK are or will be enrolled in correspondence courses -- studying online to earn certificates, diplomas and advanced degrees in off-duty hours -- to advance their careers and enhance their contributions to society and our national defense.

But while the Navy provides world-class technical training free and underwrites tuition fees for private correspondence courses, it typically does not pay for such necessities as textbooks, laptops, software applications and study materials.

To meet this challenge, the USS NEW YORK Educational Fund was organized as a tax-exempt 501 (c) 3 corporation, to which charitable donations are tax-deductible.
